Small Engine Capabilities

Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) designs and develops stationary and vehicle powertrains for motorcycle, utility, and recreational vehicle applications from concept design to production validation. The Engine, Emissions & Vehicle Research Division achieved certification to ISO 9001, ensuring compliance with stringent quality control procedures in design, development, and research.

Small Engine Development Group

SwRI has assembled a focused small-engine development group to provide services ranging from concept design to durability testing. This dedicated team of enthusiasts assist motorcycle, recreational vehicle, and small engine manufacturers in their efforts to produce world-class products. SwRI offers a wide variety of services, including:
