The Materials Development Section of Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) focuses on solving client materials problems through the use of chemical synthesis and materials expertise.

Our synthesis laboratory has 32 linear feet of standard hood space for general synthetic work and 8 feet of walk-in hood space for scale-up activities. We have equipment and capabilities for performing both small molecule and polymer syntheses. Our synthesis technology strengths include:

  • Organic synthesis

  • Organo-metallic synthesis

  • Polymer synthesis

  • Compounding

  • Molecular imprinting

  • Surface grafting

  • Formulation development for pharmaceuticals

The Materials Development Section focuses on solving client materials problems through the use of chemical and materials expertise. The section has approximately 12,000 square feet of laboratory, workshop, and office space housing state-of-the-art equipment for all aspects of soft and hard materials development and analysis.
