  • Dr. McComas has served on numerous committees and panels for NASA, AGU, the National Academy of Science's National Research Council, the University of California, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the State of New Mexico. He presently chairs NASA's Space Probe Science and Technology Definition Team (STDT) and served as a member of NASA's Space Science Advisory Committee (SScAC) and the chairman of its Sun-Earth Connections Advisory Subcommittee (SECAS) from 2000 to 2003.

  • "Diverse Plasma Populations and Structures in Jupiter`s Magnetotail" was just published in SCIENCE magazine and is now posted in full text or as an abstract on SCIENCE Online.
  • McComas is the author of nearly 300 scientific papers in the refereed literature and of 50 other publications covering a wide range of research across space physics including coronal, solar wind, heliospheric, magnetospheric, cometary and planetary topics, as well as numerous space flight instruments and techniques.
