CYGNSS micro-satellite
These SwRI-designed and -built spacecraft, eight microsatellites for NASA’s Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission (shown during payload integration), recently transitioned into operations phase after a December 2016 launch into low-Earth orbit. The CYGNSS mission is designed to measure the ocean surface beneath a hurricane to allow scientists to predict wind speed and how strong a storm will be when it makes landfall.
