SwRI designed the ground systems power and energy laboratory (GSPEL) for the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC).

Actively involved in the design, fabrication and control of a wide variety of test stands for the past 50 years, Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) provides unique and novel solutions to unusual and complex system requirements. Project deliverables range from concept designs and functional specifications to detailed designs to complete turnkey test systems. Past projects include design and fabrication of mechanical test stands for applications ranging in size from 50 to 10,000 HP to meet the needs of the following industries:
