| Intelligent Transportation Systems is the development and maintenance of software and hardware/communications systems to assist in traffic management by Traffic Management Centers and to disseminate traffic information to the traveling public. These systems control field devices such as Dynamic Message Signs, Closed Circuit Television Cameras, Traffic Sensor Devices, Roadway Weather Information Devices, etc., provide feedback to Centers through a Graphical User Interface, and provide information to the general public throughout outlets such as websites and 511 systems. Traffic Management Centers are operated by Departments of Transportation, Toll Authorities, Area Council of Governments, Counties, Cities and other public agencies. |
