Microscopy--Scanning Electron
Component-Analysis Group has a scanning-electron microscope (SEM) that is equipped with an energy-dispersive x-ray elemental-analysis system. Using this equipment, Group personnel routinely perform scanning-electron microscopy of a variety of objects including electronic components, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and components of larger electrical equipment. Additionally, using the energy-dispersive x-ray system, Group personnel can also determine elemental composition of an object while it is being imaged.
