This photo of Vine Road outside of Wasilla, Alaska, is an example of damage caused by lateral spread liquefaction; it followed a 7.0 earthquake that struck Anchorage, Alaska in 2018. Intense shaking, during an earthquake can cause solid ground to temporarily lose stability.
