Abstract: 

An integrated system for reducing the Nitrogen oxide (NO.sub.x) and particulate matter (PM) emissions from an engine released into the atmosphere includes a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system, a selective catalytic reduction system, and a passive diesel particulate filter.
