Custom Synthesis

Whether Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) clients' synthesis needs are the generation of milligram quantities of known materials or the development of a synthetic route to produce kilograms of a new compound, SwRI's synthetic chemistry team is equipped to provide rapid turnaround on competitive proposal generation and has an excellent track record of meeting deliverables on-time.

Process R&D

The Synthesis and Process Chemistry section provides process development services including:

  • Solubility determination and crystallization development
  • Salt selection and polymorph screening
  • Statistical evaluation of process variables leading to optimization
  • Scale-up of processes to 200 liters
  • Determination of critical processing parameters
  • New synthesis route evaluation and development

Radiolabeled Synthesis

SwRI is certified for handling radioactive substances, and has a dedicated facility for handling and preparation of radiolabeled materials. The Synthesis and Process Chemistry team has experience in producing 14C-labeled APIs for in-vitro studies.
