“Testing of Carbon-Carbon at High Strain Rates and High Temperatures using the Plate-Impact Technique,” Sidney Chocron
Computer simulations for impact phenomena need information about equation of state, strength, and failure at large strains, high pressures, high temperatures, and high strain rates. This presentation will show how Southwest Research Institute, along with Protection Engineering Consultants, developed a plate-impact test at elevated temperature (1000° C) that provides equation of state and strength parameters at regimes of interest for hypersonic applications.
