Overview
The 79th Annual Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) Meeting & Exhibition takes place May 18-22, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia. Tribologists and lubrication engineers from around the world attend the conference each year to share the latest advancements in the field, network, and enhance their knowledge.
Per STLE, this year “more than 500 technical presentations, application-based case studies, best practice reports and discussion panels on technical and market trends are scheduled.”
Southwest Research Institute experts will present on a variety of topics. SwRI staff also helped organize several technical, expert-led sessions as committee chairs or co-chairs.
May 18:
Electric Vehicle 101 Training Course. Chaired by SwRI staff Dr. Carlos Sanchez & Andrew Velasquez.
May 19:
“Traction Response of Lubricants Under Electrified Sliding and Rolling”— Presented by Peter Lee and Carlos Sanchez. This is presented as part of the Electric Vehicles II series, chaired by Andrew Velasquez and co-chaired by Joshua Conner.
May 20:
“Rheological Test Methods for Driveline and EV Fluids in Rheology I”— Presented by Carlos Sanchez.
May 21:
Peter Lee will teach two sections of training courses for STLE attendees: “Gasoline and Diesel Engines” as part of the Lubricant Fundamentals course and “Engine Failure Analysis” as part of the Advanced Lubrication course.
May 22:
“Electric Vehicle 202”— Carlos Sanchez was the chair of this training course. “Engine Oil, EV & Driveline: Frontier Session”— Greg Hansen is the chair of this session.
SwRI Institute Engineer Dr. Peter Lee, an STLE Fellow, is part of the 24-member STLE Board of Directors overseeing this year’s program. He will become a member of the Executive Committee in the role of Treasurer at a special luncheon during the Annual Meeting.
Additionally, Carlos Sanchez served as Chair and Paper Solicitation Chair of the Rheology Technical Session, Vice-Paper Solicitation Chair for the EV Technical Sessions, Chair of the “Art of Tribology” poster session—in which he, Peter Lee, and Andrew Velasquez have posters on display, and as member of the Annual Program and Awards committees.
