Dry gas seal failures are the most common cause for forced outages on centrifugal compressors. When dry gas seals fail, it is usually due to liquid contamination or solid ingestion. Very often dry gas seals and their supply systems are not properly engineered or operated for their application, process gas composition, and operating conditions.
