Free Webinar: Introduction to Microencapsulation

Join us Wednesday, February 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (U.S. Central Time)

Host: Dr. James Oxley

From the flavor in your chewing gum to the long-lasting deodorant in your gym bag, microencapsulation ensures active ingredients work effectively. As an expert in microencapsulation and controlled and sustained release, Southwest Research Institute will host a free webinar to introduce the basics of microencapsulation on February 19, 2026, at 11am CST US (16:00 UTC). Dr. James Oxley, an Institute Scientist with decades of experience developing encapsulation techniques will introduce encapsulation morphologies, how and why microencapsulation is used, general encapsulation characteristics, encapsulation processes, formulations, and release mechanisms. The one-hour webinar is intended for scientists, engineers, or business professionals interested in learning about encapsulation, controlled-release, its benefits/limitations, and what questions to consider when evaluating encapsulation as a technology for solving new or existing formulation challenges. The webinar content is suitable for all applications including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, food, cosmetics, consumer products, agricultures, coatings, and industrial applications. This online opportunity will also serve as an excellent primer for SwRI’s in-person Introduction to Microencapsulation workshop, offered twice per year.
