San Antonio — July 31, 2017 — Mary Gonzalez, a principal specialist in the Contracts Department at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), will receive a 2017 Outstanding Member Award from the National Property Management Association (NPMA). The award recognizes her outstanding service and dedicated commitment to the property/asset management profession and NPMA.
“This national award is a testament to Mary’s exceptional service in property management,” said Troy Nagy, assistant director of Contracts at SwRI. “We are proud to have her as a part of SwRI’s team.”
Gonzalez has more than 39 years of experience in logistics management, including 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. Her Air Force service included base supply operations, reconnaissance operations, combat communications, and medical logistics operations. Following her retirement from the Air Force, Gonzalez joined SwRI in 2000 where she is responsible for maintaining the Institute’s government property management system.
“At SwRI, we currently manage almost 1,200 items of government property worth about $38 million,” Gonzalez said, adding that she coordinates with internal and external auditors, the Defense Contract Management Agency property administrator, and other government agencies regarding the care and control of government property.
Gonzalez has served as president and vice president of the NPMA Alamo Chapter and vice president of its Austin Chapter. She will be recognized during the NPMA National Education Seminar in Phoenix on Aug. 1.
NPMA is a professional association advancing the profession of asset management through leadership in education, standards, compliance, and certification. It is the only association exclusively serving professionals who manage physical assets.
