Background
This IR program proposes to identify sources and reduce the test-to-test variability of full-scale HEV testing. Improvements made will provide prospective customers with tools required to demonstrate small yet significant advantages of their products to OEMs.
Approach
Two HEV vehicles will be instrumented to record inputs that will provide understanding of vehicle power management, gaseous and particulate emissions, and various temperatures. The vehicles will be tested over regulatory cycles using three test fuels. The test matrix will be structured as a high-precision, fuel-effects test program using all “best practice” techniques developed with traditional ICE vehicles.
Accomplishments
Vehicle instrumentation has been completed and testing is ongoing. Improvements to produce more repeatable results have been identified and progress is being made to implement those improvements.
