Free Webinar: Developments in Non-Battery Grid-Scale Energy Storage
Join us for a free webinar Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.–1:00 p.m. (U.S. Central Time).
Hosts: Joshua Schmitt
Energy storage technologies are rapidly developing in response to increasingly large fluctuations in power demand and availability from intermittent resources including renewables. Storage technologies offer increased efficiency and reliability for electric power and reduce costs associated with peak generation or transmission. This webinar will review various energy storage technologies for large-scale applications with a focus on turbomachinery-based solutions or integration of turbomachinery with other storage technologies such as batteries. These technologies include pumped hydroelectric storage, compressed air energy storage, flywheel energy storage, thermal energy storage, chemical energy storage including hydrogen, ammonia, or synthetic natural gas, and electrical energy storage. For each technology, the presenters will describe fundamental working principles, target applications, existing technology maturity, and research & development activities for future development.
